Puente Romano Hotel Marbella.
Named after the first century Roman bridge on the site, top of the range Puente Romano Hotel was built in 1974 on the back of the huge success of its neighbour, the emblematic Marbella Club Hotel (both symbols of Marbella). It started life by Prince Alfonso Von Hohenlohe, as an upscale andalusian village-style flats complex but the beachfront setting made it a natural fit for the luxury hotel industry it would become in an hotel in 1979 by its new owner, Mouaffak Al Midani, and a member of the Leading Hotels of the World since 1982. Like Marbella Club Hotel, Puente Romano enjoys a privileged position in the heart of the Marbella Golden Mile and ranks as one of the best 5-star GL hotels on the Costa del Sol.
In the nineties the Puente Romano hotel was at risk of reaching the point where its public areas and guest rooms were dangerously close to appearing outdated and losing their classic elegance as the hotel seemed to be frozen in time, causing it to lose its shine over time, much like Marbella.
The hotel takes great pride in providing top-notch services all year round; with a team of dedicated personnel, access control gates are manned round the clock to ensure that only authorized individuals gain entry into the premises; visitors are thoroughly checked to maintain the safety of guests and staff alike; moreover, a state-of-the-art alarm system is in place, linking all homes to a central monitoring base that provides constant surveillance for enhanced peace of mind.
Chase the sun for a suite life this holiday season. Puente Romano, never fail to impress, is without a doubt one of the most beautiful hotels of Spain. First opened in 1974 by Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe, and later purchased by a Saudi sheik, now David Shamoon´s family owns this Puente Romano Hotel that offers ultra-exclusive accommodation in its 266 opulent rooms including several suites – the Imperial Suite, is famed as one of the most exclusive hotel suites in Spain, and boast of full sea views to the mediterranean and 190 square metres m2 where visitors may relax in elegance during their Marbella vacation.
The resort’s commitment to excellence is reflected in more than just a fresh coat of paint or a new logo, in fact, the Shamoons have invested significantly in upgrading their facilities, resulting in a range of exciting new features such as upgraded public areas, beautifully remodelled guest rooms and suites, signature dining experiences, and a Six Senses Spa.
The hotel takes immense pride in its contemporary and vibrant reception area, staffed by a team of seasoned professionals who have dedicated their lives to the hospitality industry. From the moment guests step foot inside, they are greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, complete with complimentary Nespresso coffee, refreshments, and chilled water to quench their thirst after a long journey.

Puente Romano Distinctive Style and Character
The Puente Romano is a five-star hotel with a charming Andalusian-inspired design featuring blue-and-white tiles embellishing its crinkled whitewashed walls and terracotta-tiled stairs. The property draws inspiration from local village architecture, with paths winding through the lush, expansive grounds, passing by swimming pools and beautiful gardens filled with the sweet scent of night-blooming jasmine and over 400 plant species worldwide, including palms, geraniums, and bird-of-paradise flowers. The rooms are thoughtfully arranged to provide maximum privacy and organized in clusters named after Andalusian towns such as Zahara, Ronda, and Nerja.
The Puente Romano is a well-established luxury hotel in Marbella, yet it maintains a modern and contemporary ambiance, with many of its rooms recently renovated and dining options refreshed. The hotel derives its name from the ancient Roman bridge, dating back to the first century, located at its heart, which was once part of the road between Rome and Cádiz. Visitors can glimpse the bridge while relaxing in La Plaza, the famous central bar and restaurant square. The trendy, adults-only Nobu Marbella hotel, now part of the same complex, contributes to the vibrant and youthful atmosphere.
Puente Romano Hotel Marbella Accommodations
The 219 suites and three villas are contemporary, spacious, and brightly lit throughout the hotel’s grounds, with varied styles and configurations. Each suite features a tea/coffee set, bottled water, a private terrace, and a tablet containing hotel information, along with essentials like robes, slippers, a professional hairdryer, and Aromatherapy Associates toiletries. The interiors, designed by Andrew Martin, are mostly in neutral shades of white, gray, cream, and beige, with occasional pops of color. Some rooms feature a more traditional Andalusian aesthetic. Guests can choose between accommodations with gardens or sea views.
During my stay, I occupied Suite Z12 with its magnificent sea view, decorated in a chic Mediterranean style, complete with turquoise beddings, lilies-filled vases, floral wall prints, and Roman-style tiles in the marble bathroom, which featured a separate bath and shower. Among the hotel’s accommodation options, the Imperial Suite Z3 is a favorite, featuring high, barn-like ceilings, a private sauna, and a private hot tub on a vast terrace facing the sea.
