Puente Romano, Beachside Luxury in Marbella.
If you are looking for a slice of luxury in Marbella, you’ve come to Puente Romano, the place to be. Puente Romano drew its name from a Roman bridge that is a remnant of the Via Augusta, which connected Cádiz with Rome almost 2,000 years ago.
The Beach Resort is a 5 star Grand Lux Leading Hotel of the World located right on the heart of the Golden Mile. Boasting a tennis club, three swimming pools, an abundance of other first-class amenities and facilities, more than 20 top tier restaurants (from world-famous brands to double-Michelin star chef Dani Garcia), the hotel also has its very own exclusive night club, Supper Club and a sumptuous beach club that rates as one of the most exclusive in Marbella.
Puente Romano Origins.
Building on the success of the legendary Marbella Club Hotel, the Andalusian village was built in 1976-1977 by the well-known property developer, Tulio Pino from Sevilla. The lovely development offers an low-rise luxury accommodation with sub-tropical gardens leading towards the sea.
The resort itself has 287 “keys” most of which are large studios, or one bedroom suites of approximately the same size (i.e. 55-60 m2 plus terraces). In its origins, between 1976 and 1978, 61 properties were sold for private use. In 1978, the remaining units were bought for a Syrian-Saudi businessman Mouffak Al Midani, who formed the foundations of the Hotel Puente Romano converted it into a luxurious five-star resort hotel, using the spacious private apartments as deluxe hotel suites that would open in 1979 along with the adjacent tennis club, venue for international tennis tournaments and concerts for many years managed by Bjorn Borg. The 1980s and 1990s saw further expansion of the facilities, including new and even more luxurious suites, new restaurants,..
The hotel’s beachside location at the heart of the Golden Mile, assured its enduring appeal. Many celebrity has stayed here. Later on, in 1995, the hotel was acquired by David Shamoon, a well-known Jew businessman. Nowadays, the hotel remains in the hands of his children Jennica and Daniel who have implemented outstanding improvements, modernised the décor with overall refurbishments over the years, whilst remaining true to the sensual Moorish-inspired architecture that gives the Puente Romano, and indeed the Marbella Club, its graceful character.
